The best tips for what to wear (and what to avoid) for your photoshoot!

Are you in need of one?

I met the Gammons at a conference several years ago and I have never forgotten their kind souls, sweet demeanors and loving family.  I had the honor of photographing them as a family of 6 then and now they have grown by another little one just a few weeks ago.

We did their fall Family Session a couple of months ago and snuck in a few Maternity shots as well. They turned out amazing even if it was a little chilly that morning.

I am loving these in-home lifestyle Newborn Sessions more and more each time I do them. The Lord always allows this to be such a sweet time whether it’s the first child or 5th. I walked into their home and their kiddos had me wrapped around their finger while Momma was finishing nursing little A Hope. They showed me their rooms, their toys, told me stories and then I took a walk around the house to see exactly where I wanted to do everything. They just so happened to have this enormous memory foam “beanbag” in the playroom with the most beautiful flood of natural light coming from a huge window where I knew was going to be perfect for beanbag posed shots. As soon as Momma finished nursing, I snuck into their room and scoped out what we were going to do with the whole family. After washing my hands, I took A Hope and let Momma finish getting ready for the session. One of the plus sides of doing a session in your home – you don’t have to rush to get ready yourself.

We did a few shots on the bed, in her crib and in the bassinet after wrapping her in a sweet pink wrap. These were great testing shots as I call them to get little one to get sleepy and comfy all wrapped up and being moved around a little. As soon as we were done with these, we jumped right into sibling shots on the bed and they turned out better than I expected. This room was PERFECT for lighting, color and huge for the whole family!

I wish I had these shots with my little when he was a newborn.

Next we moved on to the beanbag shots after we took a little snack break. I wanted to get a little variety so we started with pink and then moved onto purple. Baby girls are my favorite in that lavender!

We finished off with Little A Hope being awake for some “prop” shots before she finished her “lunch”. This session was one of my favorites with all the sweet siblings wanting to touch her, hold her and love on her. She is already so greatly loved.
